five things recently

Hello! It's been a while since I sat down and just typed a 'what's going on' type of post. The short answer to that is, not much. Things were a bit hectic for a while but have calmed down quite considerably. Craig and I were planning on moving back to Glasgow this summer, but after a lot of consideration, we decided that we both liked living in Edinburgh too much. It's a beautiful city and we're quite settled here, so it'd be a shame to move and stress when we're quite happy here. To counter still being so far away from friends and family, learning to drive is the next thing on the to do list. It'll be scary, but I can't wait to have my own little car.

Work has been hectic too, hence why the blog has been a little bit bare recently. The staff have been dropping like flies, and soon we'll be down to only four full time members of staff. Any kind of life I currently have right now is about to disappear. I can't wait until we're no longer short staffed, it's too much and I'm really not looking forward to working six day weeks again.

Other than that, things have been all good around here! It's only getting better too now that there's some sun and hot weather around. I've even had my peely-wally legs out recently!

1. Now that it's lighter in the evenings, I've been staring at so many beautiful sunsets, like the one pictured above. I took that on the way to catch the bus after work about two weeks ago.

2. My cat has been super cuddly with me recently, and she was already pretty cuddly. Now she licks my neck and tucks her head under my chin (or on my face) and sleeps for ages. It's so cute.

3. Buying loads of fruit now that the hotter weather is here. I always lose my appetite for big meals in the summer, choosing pasta or rice or even just an apple for dinner. I just stock my fridge up with vegetables and fruit now, it's delicious and light.

4. I have a holiday coming up for a week, starting at the end of April going into May and I am so excited. Craig has the same days off too, so it means we'll be able to spend a good amount of time together as neither of us enjoys working opposite shifts all the time.

5. Switching our heavier duvet for a lighter, thinner one! I hate sleeping without any covers on me, I need to be covered head to toe as I have a constant fear of something grabbing my leg or arm when I'm sleeping.. (I'm 24 this year, people), so a lighter cover really helps with the heat.

things that have made me happy recently

I've had two weeks off of work recently, which has been spent out at restaurants, drinking cocktails, lazing around in jammies and watching films with Craig. It has been perfectly blissful.

I completed my Filofax Malden collection, pictured above. It took me around six months to find the pocket size in grey, every time I found one I was always outbid or someone else got it first, but I managed to find one on ebay about a week ago and jumped at the chance to be the highest bidder!

Craig took me out for a few dates in the last few weeks, to Wagamama, TGI and such; for food and cocktails! It was good and I think we're getting into the habit of going out a bit more, we're not generally going-out people, so it's nice to be doing dates and things like that.

I started watching Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood from the beginning again, for like the fourth time. I always forget how much I love that anime, and it just gets better and better each time I watch it again.

I finished season three of American Horror Story, and started season four. I have to say, I'm a little bit taken with Even Peters (like everyone). I think it's developed into a full blown crush, it's pretty serious guys.

ten things that have made me happy!

I've decided to start a new little section on my blog, as I've seen quite a few blogs do this type of post on a regular basis and it's such a cute idea. It's 'ten things that have made me happy'. I think it'll be nice to be able to look back on these posts and see everything that made me happy. So, here are my first ten things!

1. Craig and I went to Loch Lomond on a little mini getaway for three nights, which was amazing. The cottage we stayed in was so cute and I pretty much didn't want to leave. It was raining pretty much the whole time we were there though so it meant we spent most of the time cuddled up in bed or on the couch listening to the rain and talking. So peaceful.

2. Downloading Spotify to my computer for the first time, despite having a premium account since December. Now there is music playing all the time, it's awesome!

3. Appreciating how close the shops are to our flat. Nothing is worse than craving chocolate at 9pm and knowing there is nowhere around you to get some.

4. Watching The Great British Bake Off and pretty much drooling at all the tasty things the contestants are baking! I honestly wish I was that good.

5. Getting Winry back after my mum was baby sitting her while we were away. The flat is just too quiet without a little cat running around and meowing at everything.

6. Craig tickling my tummy when I had a bit of cramp was the cutest. He treats me well, that boy!

7. I started writing down my Christmas list and gift ideas, which made me so excited that Christmas will be here soon again. Although I can't believe it's already mid August. Where has the time gone?!

8. Call it a guilty pleasure, or self inflicted cringe, but I recently re-watched the Twilight movies and both loved and hated it. I loved the books when they were first released and the movies kind of annoyed me. Mainly because of Kristen Stewart and her inability to show any expression other than concerned.

9. I recently starting reading and following this blog - http://www.ariestrash.com/ and I absolutely love it. Especially the design, it's so nice!

10. I've finally decided on something I've been thinking about doing for a while, and it feels really good to finally have some guts and take the plunge to do it. All will be revealed in good time ;)
