last minute airport shopping

About a week and a half ago I went a little trip to my dad's for a quick visit. I stay in Glasgow and he lives in England near London, so I don't get to see him very often, if at all really. The visit was kind of a disaster, but I did manage to have a good nosey through the duty free before the flight on the way home. Nothing like a bit of retail therapy after spending time with family to cheer you up. Plus, the airport was insanely busy and I was bored just waiting around.

I didn't go wild as I'm trying to put a bit of money aside for savings. I bought two books and two beauty bits. The first book I bought was Get Your Sh*t together by Sarah Knight. I've read her other book so many times, The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k, which is a very good and lighthearted read about how to control exactly how much fucks you can give to a certain situation before you need to pull away from it. This time it's about organising your life and essentially getting your shit together to get exactly what you need to get done and doing it now.

The second book I bought was Find Calm by Anna Barnes. It's basically a little book full of meaningful quotes, tips and tricks to remain calm whilst under pressure of stress. I haven't finished this one, I've been picking it up here or there and reading a few passages but I think that's sometimes the way these books are meant to be read, in small chunks at a time.

As usual, I ended up wandering around all the beauty bits and found the Origins counter. I had used a sample of the charcoal mask before and remembered loving it so decided to buy a full size one. I've only used it once and so far I can't tell if it's working. I've came out in a lot of spots and blemishes but I don't know if that's because it's bringing out any imperfections to the skins surface? I'm also drinking a lot more water now so again that might be affecting it slightly. Who knows, I'll keep going with it anyway.

I also bought another Molton Brown hand cream as I absolutely adore them! I usually get the rhubarb and rose one but I couldn't find it there so bought the pink pepperpod instead which also smells so good. A little goes a long way with these little tubes as well, one will generally last me about 4-6 weeks before I need another.

I love duty free, I'm already looking into flights again soon, so maybe there will be some more buys shortly. There's also something I love about flying, it's just so peaceful and serene. I always get a window seat so I can stare out the window to the clouds and watch the ground disappear below me and I very rarely get out my seat once my seatbelt is on anyway. Hopefully next time I fly it won't be met with disastrous family get-togethers.

Finding the right pair of glasses

I've worn glasses for pretty much as long as I can remember. The first time I can clearly remember getting a pair of glasses I refused to look through them and instead wore them at the bottom of my nose so I could look over the frames. My mum soon caught wise though and that was swiftly stopped. I think I was about four when I got my first pair, twenty-two years later and I'm still wearing glasses and probably will for the rest of my life.

Glasses have always been something that bothered me. I was bullied in primary school for wearing glasses, being called the usual "specky" and such. Yet now, people actually buy glasses to wear without prescriptions in them because they're fashionable.  If I'd have known this was going to be the case so many years later I wouldn't have let it bother me as much as it did!

Since that point, I've been wanting to get glasses that I feel suit me. I generally always had my glasses chosen for me by my mum and then because my prescription is so high, she always had to pay to have them thinned so I wouldn't have massive thick lenses that would have probably added to the teasing at the time. Now, I'm obviously choosing my own my frames, I like to go for a certain style. Which pretty much comes down to a black frame, with either thick legs or frameless at the bottom. I used to always go to Specsavers, but then I discovered that if you have a copy of your prescription, you can essentially buy them online, and they're generally (in my experience anyway) cheaper to buy.

I have three pairs of glasses at the moment, one from Specsavers, which are the ones with the pink at the end of the legs, a pair from Glasses Direct which are the thicker framed pair and then a pair from Glasses Shop, which are the Wayfarer style.

I do actually love wearing my glasses now, and my favourite pair has to be the Wayfarer Style from Glasses Shop. They're the comfiest and easiest to wear and the style I think suits my face really well. As I have a high prescription the lenses are quite thick, and given they're essentially frameless at the bottom, it makes the thick lens really easy to see. People with normal small prescriptions would never have this problem, though.

It's this pair I usually choose to wear out of the house and keep the other two as my sort of casual sit in types as they aren't as fancy looking, basically!

If you interested in ordering your glasses online, all you need is your prescription which you can easily get by asking for a printed copy from your optician. Then you just type in your details and order whatever frames you like. Glasses Shop currently have a buy one get one free sale on too! There's a few pairs on there I'm probably going to order on payday at the end of the month, including a pair with gold detailing on the frames!

What do you think of ordering glasses online?

Mother's Day - Gift Guide

Hearts Teapot - link
Minimal Watch - link
Silver Tote - link
Geo Design Bag - link
Rose & Gold Berry - link
Raised Design Mug - link

Mother's Day is fast approaching and if like me, you struggle to not only buy gifts, but to find the right gifts for people. Luckily for me my mum isn't the most subtle, she literally tells me the things she wants me to get her. This year it seems to be focussing on a new tattoo and a new bag for work. Getting her a tattoo might be difficult as that would take a lot of planning, however the bag I have completely sorted.

She was wanting a simple shoulder bag, with a bit of structure but not overly complicated and when I spotted the design on the Geo Design bag, I instantly knew she'd love it. The bag itself comes in it's own little pouch to keep it protected whilst it's in transit and it was delivered in just over a day, which makes shopping for purchases so close to the day really easy. The material feels lovely but sturdy, like it will last for a very long time without showing any signs of wear. My mum is a bit similar to me in terms of style, she likes very minimal things and the monochrome design suits her perfectly. I can't wait until Sunday to give it to her!

I also had a look at some other things to maybe treat her with and quite honestly, I'll probably order myself a few things, especially that Orla Kiely mug, it's super cute! You also can't go wrong with flowers, and the Rose and Berry faux flowers in the vase look lovely. I also love the adorable little teapot with the polka-dot hearts, it's more my dream teapot than my mum's but you know, it's the thought that counts right?

Have you got things sorted for Mother's Day?

I know some people find Mother's Day hard, so this post is meant with the best intentions and I wish you all the love in the world if you're spending it without your mum! ♥

How not to give a fuck

The title pretty much says it all, doesn't it?

Back around the end of October I spotted this book while wandering Glasgow central station. I was hesitant to get it as I figured I already had a kind of 'don't give a fuck' attitude, but this book opened my eyes into ways I could give less fucks.

I think 2016 was the year that I realised a lot about myself.

I don't need to constantly chat with someone, either friends or family. I'm so content in my own company that in all honesty, I sometimes find chatting and small talk so tedious. I can manage it for a short period of time and then, after a while, all my awkwardness starts to seep out and I either get really weird or I think of some excuse and walk off. Or, similarly, I just won't text you back. It's nothing personal, I'm just not that into chatting about every-little-detail of your life. Soz.

I also found that I don't give a fuck about what people think about me. I've generally always been like this, but more so recently. I read something that one of my family posted on Facebook, you know, those awful glittery moving gifs with an inspirational quote on them? This one was split into several parts, but the part that stood out most for me was "other people's opinions of you are none of your business". I mean, it sounds weird. But it actually made sense to me. Why should I care what other people think about me, it's not going to change their opinion of me just because I know what they're thinking. If they don't like me, me knowing that fact isn't going to suddenly make them like me any more than they already do. So now, I don't even bother myself with pretending to care.

But, the biggest thing this book taught me, was not to give a fuck about the little things. SO many things used to bother me. People cutting in front of me in a queue, everyone slamming forward to get on to the train when it pulls up (even though the train hasn't even finished moving yet!), slow walkers, etc. Now, none of that bothers me any more. And if I do feel that little inclination of annoyance, I just ignore it and focus on my own thoughts or what I'm doing.

Can we just all acknowledge that slow walkers are the worst, though?

That aside, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who would like the freedom of not giving a fuck, or if like me, you're looking to expand on your not giving a fuck-ness. I've read through this three times in the short space of time that I've had it. It generally lives in the bag I take to work, too, just case I need to remind myself to not give a fuck when I'm being crushed on a busy train home from work. Sometimes it's difficult, but it makes like so much simpler.

Soap & Glory - The Whole Glam Lot

Every year I get myself the limited edition Soap & Glory gift set they release at half price. They've done it for years and I never miss one. This year, with starting a new job and not having much money to spare I couldn't buy myself it. I know, woe is me. However, my wonderful mammabear got me one for Christmas. I was genuinely intrigued when I went snooping under the Christmas tree to feel the presents and I couldn't figure out what this tin thing was. I opened it up on Christmas morning both excited and not surprised that she got me it, as I'm positive I mentioned to her at some point about getting it during the Christmas period.

This year has been my absolute favourite yet. I was a little disappointed in last years one, but this year has completely upped the game. So many full size products that I absolutely love, including the Sugar Crush body wash, Scrub of your Life, Righteous Butter and Hand Food. I've still to try out the face wash and the moisturiser but, so far, I've only heard good things about them so I cannot wait to give them a try. I'm not putting too much hope on the moisturiser as my face has always been very sensitive and is used to only a handful of products, but Ill give a try.

I'm not too sure what I'm going to do with the suitcase holder the products came in, as I generally keep all my body stuff in a drawer in the bedroom. I suppose I'll find something to use it for. If you have the same set, let me know what you're doing with the container as I need some idea. Unless that idea is to throw it away, as the hoarder in me would cry if I did that..

Paperchase mini haul

Is it just me or is anyone else struggling to get decent light for photos now? Just me, okay.

The last few days have been spent going in and out of Glasgow for various reasons and each time I wander through the giant Paperchase staring at everything. I actually had a few things to take back there that I decided I wasn't going to use so instead of getting of getting my money back (the sensible thing) I decided to exchange them for store credit. It wasn't much, only £20 or so, but it helped fund my new obsession. - Bullet Journalling. I've recently fallen in love with keeping a bullet journal and decided that if I was going to do it properly then I need a decent notebook and materials. Simply an excuse to buy more stationery really!

I had read online about Moleskine and, even though I've had their regular ruled notebooks, I decided to get their squared notebook instead, since this makes bullet journalling a little easier. The paper quality is lovely and the spine lies flat when you open it up, something that I was definitely looking for.

I also found these beautiful little rose gold accessories, paperclips and page markers. They're both so lovely, especially the page markers, they're solid metal too so they won't bend if you carry your journal around with you. I imagine they're rose gold plated though, so we'll see how the coating holds up over time.

I can't wait to sit down and start a new journal. My old one is almost full, so once that's finished I'll be moving onto my new one! Is it weird to be genuinely excited over a new notebook and rose gold stationery? I hope not. I wouldn't care if it was anyway, pretty stationery makes me so happy!

simple jewellery

I'm not one for being a massive fan of jewellery. I've gone through phases of it - the bright coloured stretchy bracelets in high school, the huge chunky necklaces and even gold sovereign rings. I cringe just thinking about being made to wear those awful rings. I only ever received one and "accidentally" stood on it, bending it out of shape and rendering it unwearable. These were drastic times, people.

However recently, I've come back over to the jewellery side. I've been sticking to simple silver jewellery, I'm not so much a fan of gold. Most of it comes from Pandora, mainly because it's simple and plain and for the price of it is actually really good quality. It started with Craig buying me a Pandora birth stone ring for Christmas last year. Then that moved onto my wee mum buying me a pandora bracelet with the heart charm and two smaller matching charms. Then I bought myself the bubble ring, heart ring, the cat head charm (for Winry) and the safety chain for the back of the bracelet. The smaller silver twist ring I've actually had for over ten years, my gran bought me it around my 16th birthday and I've worn it every day since.

I've been looking into getting a few more charms for the bracelet, little coloured stones to brighten it up a little. The small necklace I actually got from Paperchase in Glasgow and I almost fell over when I seen it. I've been looking for a silver necklace in that exact style for a while now and when I spotted it I asked for it straight away. Lucky!

Do you have any jewellery favourites or simple bits of sentimental value?

favourite items from lush

Grease Lightning / Herbalism / Mint Julips / Rose Jam Bubbleroon / Butterball Bath Bomb

There are few things that I like more than spending a while browsing in Lush. Even if I wasn't buying anything I would still happily spend time browsing all their products and smelling everything. I do love the smell of a Lush store! When I do buy products, I tend to always navigate to old favourites. I stick to the same skin care items because I know they work well for me and generally buy the same bath bombs and bubble bars.

A recent trip to the Lush in Glasgow saw me do exactly that. The store was incredibly busy so I didn't have as much time as I usually like to spend browsing so I darted about locating my favourite bits and headed for the till. For skin care I like to stick to three products - Grease Lightning, Herbalism and Mint Julips. I've been using all three for around two years now (I think) and they seem to be the only things I can use that doesn't break me out in spots or helps when I do actually have a few spots/blemishes.

Grease Lightning is a spot treatment, simply squeeze out a small blob and apply to the area and leave to dry. I find this works best over night after I've cleansed and toned my face. It can sometimes leave a flaky residue in the morning but nothing a little bit of toner won't remove. Herbalism is actually my favourite product of them all, a wonderful cleanser made up of amazing ingredients for the skin. It also works as an exfoliator due to the ground almond. It looks a bit like moss and feels weird when you rub it on your face, but I find it is definitely worth it. It does have a weird smell though. Mint Julips is a simple little lip scrub that tastes like sugary mint. It works wonders on dry lips and I usually go through a jar pretty quickly in the colder months. You just scrub your lips and then lick it away. Simple!

When it comes to bath products I tend to gravitate more towards to the bubble bars or bath bombs as you get the same ingredients in them (mostly) plus added bubbles. I always buy the Rose Jam Bubbleroon because it smells amazing and turns the bath a lovely dusky pink. I find you don't need the whole thing, I break it up into halves if I'm having a big bath or quarters if I'm just wanting a quick bath. After saying I tend to favour bubble bars over bath bombs, I have been enjoying the Butterball Bath Bomb a lot, because again, it smells amazing. It leaves my skin feeling wonderful and soft as well because of the cocoa butter bits through it.

With the colder weather definitely arriving I'll be taking a lot more baths, so a lot more trips to Lush might be occurring. Not that I mind!

pampering is always a good idea

I think everybody loves a pamper session, especially me. Most of my girl friends have a weekly or bi-weekly pamper as well, but it's only recently that I've gotten properly into it. I used to enjoy a long bath but generally I'd just end up watching a film and then falling asleep (dangerous, I know, Craig moans at me for this all the time!). Now, I actually enjoy using treatments on my hair and skin, bath bombs and bubble bars, exfoliating every inch of me and even enjoy a little glass of vodka while relaxing.

I tend to mainly use Lush products when it comes to pampering. I'm trying to steer away from products that have pointless chemicals in them or things that cause more damage than good in the long term. Lush are always open and honest about what's in their products so I feel happy slathering myself head to toe in their stuff. I splurged a little in the Edinburgh branch a few weeks ago and spent a while in the store talking to one of the girls for a long time about what things I would like and discussing my hair and skin type so she could recommend the right things. I went in with an idea of what I wanted but she really did help.

I ended up buying a shampoo and conditioner - Curly Wurly and American Cream, a hair mask - H'sua Wen Hua, a facemask - Cupcake and a facial scrub - Herbalism. I knew I already wanted Cupcake because I'd been told it smells like mint chocolate and helped get rid of blemishes so that was a no brainer. I also knew I wanted H'sua Wen Hua (how do you even pronounce that?!) because of Megan's hair, I remember she mentioned using this mask over and over again and she has beautiful long hair, so it must help.

I wanted some things that would compliment the stuff I had already picked up so the lovely sales assistant recommended Curly Wurly shampoo and American Cream conditioner. Curly Wurly is designed for curly hair to help define the curls and keep frizz away and American Cream is a rich, thick conditioner that doesn't leave any residue behind and smells absolutely delicious! I got caught standing smelling my hair in work just because it smelled so good.

She also recommended Herbalism because of my skin type. I have really bad combination skin, really oily around the bridge of my nose, chin and forehead but extremely dry around my nostrils and the sides of my face. It makes buying facial products a nightmare. Herbalism is perfect for combination skin because it's not too greasy on oily skin thanks to the rosemary and chamomile but also works well on dry skin because of the ground almonds through it. It feels like a facial scrub but also soft against the skin. I have noticed a few more spots coming to the surface since using it, but she told me this would happen. Apparently it brings out any dirt or bacteria buried in the skin to the surface, so essentially my skin will get worse before it gets a lot better. I don't mind, because it looks nicer already anyway!

I tend to always use a bubble bar or bath bombs when I'm pampering myself as well. I've really been enjoying rose scents recently so have been using the Rose Jam Bubbleroon, which smells divine. It makes the bath a lovely dusky pink too! This combined with a little sprinkle of bath salts and I'll happily lie in the bath for a solid hour without moving. Add a glass of vodka and cranberry with ice and I'm good to go.

I'll be having a little pamper on my next day off, which isn't until next Tuesday. I'm on a seven day stretch at work just now due to being short staffed, which sucks! How do you enjoy a pamper?

love,
Thanks for reading!

recently read

I've been reading a lot more recently. I sort of fell away from reading for a few months, pretty much since the new year started. I've only read four books this month, which is just under average for me. I tend to read around six or seven books in a month, so it's been relatively slow in comparison.

Juliet by Anne Fortier -
I've read this book many, many times, as you can probably tell from the spine. The pages are really thin so the spine cracks easy, but it doesn't bother me as it's one of my absolute favourites. I re-read it at least once a year. A twist on Shakespeare's classic Romeo and Juliet, which questions the origins of the most famous couple destined for disaster and puts into perspective what you'd do for the ones you love. Any romance lovers out there will adore this one, in my opinion. I'm not usually a fan of romance novels, but I do love Romeo and Juliet, so this was an easy one for me to like.

A Cat Lovers Miscellany by Mike Darton -
This is one of those books that you pick up because it's quirky but won't really offer much. Basically a collection of cat facts, trivia, fun little tidbits and remarks around cats. Pretty simple and very easy read.

Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell -
I've read this a few times and each time get sucked into it a little more. I got a new copy fairly recently as I gave my old one to charity, along with a few other books. I think most people have read this at one point, whether through choice or through education. It's a great must read, a story based on a totalitarian world, which challenges the reader to think about the objectiveness of reality and the concept between right and wrong.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn -
I read this after seeing the film was coming out. I still haven't seen the film after seeing a lot people saying that it doesn't do the book any justice whatsoever. This book has had a lot of popularity, so most people already know the core concept. Missing wife and husband is now the prime suspect, but did he really have anything to do with her disappearance? I really enjoyed this book, but probably won't read it again, due to knowing what happens in the story. I might read it again in a few years, hopefully having forgotten a good deal of the story and making it surprising again.

I've bought a few more books for next month, which I am so excited to start reading. Genuinely so excited. I'll be posting about those in a few days!

love,
Thanks for reading!

a little jewellery post

I'm not that much of a girly girl, but I love getting new jewellery. There's something I love about wearing a very plain and simple outfit and then dressing it up with a nice bit of jewellery. So when Rings and Tings got in touch about sharing some of their lovely pieces I was very happy to review them. They kindly sent me a goody bag of a few random pieces from their website, which consisted of a necklace, a pair of dangly earrings, two bracelets and a ring. They came all neatly wrapped up in their own little plastic packaging and then bubble wrapped up and placed neatly into a padded envelope.

I was pretty excited when I opened them up and seen the necklace first, which is definitely my favourite. I wore out it out recently to a new favourite restaurant and now whenever I'm going out somewhere I pop it back on. It's very casual but still looks pretty fancy. Plus, I love how dainty and delicate it looks!

The rest of the pieces I was less keen on which was unfortunate. I didn't mind because it was a random assortment of bits from the website, so I knew I wasn't guaranteed to like everything. Having said that, my mum really liked the gold bracelet and the gold ring, which was too big for me anyway, so she has kept them and wears them out and about. The gold bracelet has a cute little stone at the end and is asymmetrical, which I really liked.

I do actually like the earrings as I think they're really pretty, however I'm not one for wearing large earrings, preferring to wear studs every day. I probably would wear them on holiday, though! The darker bracelet with the green stones is actually really cute, but I'm not really a fan of green jewellery.

There are a few lovely items on the website that I think are really nice. This triangle necklace is lovely, as well as this woven bracelet and this beautiful mixed stone bracelet, too. Everything is pretty reasonably priced too, which is always a bonus! I definitely think I'll be grabbing that mixed stone bracelet when I get paid again!

(*)These products were kindly sent to me for review.

ain't no thing like a chicken wing!

 photo wings1.jpg

You know when you find a restaurant and you think, 'yep, this is it, I'll eat here forever'? I found that and it is glorious. I've never found a place where I know I will go back again and again, I usually think most places are good, but my loyalties will always lie wherever somewhere new is opening up or somewhere cheaper. Not anymore, let me tell you about Wings.

 photo wings8.jpg
 photo wings2.jpg
 photo wings3.jpg

I had heard a few people talking about Wings and never really paid much attention to it. A restaurant that only serves chicken wings? Nah. I have never been more wrong! Craig and I decided to go out for some food on a rainy, windy day and I mentioned having heard bout Wings. After deciding that it was worth a try we headed up to the Royal Mile and down Old Fishmarket Close to find Wings (which we actually walked past the first time because it was hidden behind some scaffolding!)

For a dull, rainy Sunday it was busier than I was expecting. We were instantly greeted by a giant C-3PO welcoming us, this is when I knew I'd love it. We were taken to be seated by a friendly waitress to a Jurassic Park themed table with giant dinosaur coming out of the wall and decorated with pictures of all the characters. Even the light matched! There were other sections with different themes, too. I spotted Star Trek, Doctor Who, Star Wars and I think maybe a marvel/superhero theme as well. I didn't wander around because other people were eating and minding their own business and I didn't want to be that guy with my camera.

There was a bucket on the table with napkins and menus in, which we browsed for around three minutes before deciding. For a restaurant that only serves chicken wings, there was a lot of choice. You essentially choose the sauce you want from all the different types and then they bring you your wings coated in your chosen sauce. Simple as that.

 photo wings5.jpg
 photo wings6.jpg
 photo wings10.jpg

We both went for a more traditional bbq style sauce, Craig's being a bit sweeter than mine because it had maple syrup through it, I think. We also had some to share, which were covered in cheese! They were absolutely delicious. You get six wings per portion but you can get as many portions as you like, and they come over and check on you to see if you'd like to order more once you're finished. We managed to finish the wings we had and didn't order any more, feeling too full. However, I would have been more than happy to sit there for an hour and then order more, but that's because I'm greedy!

We cleaned ourselves up, given that we were both pretty messy with sauce on our hands/faces, and then went to pay the bill. For three portions of wings, a bottle of Magners and a Pepsi it came to just over £15, which is so cheap! I was genuinely surprised when I seen it. I was expecting at least around £20 and over. As we were leaving we walked past a set of stairs and wandered down for a nosey and seen a tv projection on the wall and other people standing about. We didn't venture all the way down as we didn't know if it was something private or not, but next time I'll be finding out.

 photo wings7.jpg
 photo wings9.jpg

Posing for a standard selfie. As usual. Craig joined in, too, even though he didn't want to.. haha.

If you're out and about in Edinburgh and are looking for somewhere a little bit different, definitely give Wings a try!

a gift guide with a difference

red bubble t-shirts - baymax & companion cube, storm trooper, tolkien quote, thranduiling
think geek - charm bracelet and variety of charms
etsy - zelda key holder, deadpool usb, zelda jewellery box, lara croft print, harry potter ring

Everyone loves a good gift guide, right? They're fairly popular around the holidays and stuff, so with Valentine's Day right around the corner, I thought I'd add another one to the gift guide pile! This is a guide for the connoisseur of geekery. I wouldn't really say that it's catered to male or female apart from maybe the bracelet and the ring, it's simple a selection of items that I think anybody who considers themselves even slightly geeky might like.

Craig and I don't really do anything for Valentine's Day. It's not like, 'we don't need a day to spoil each other' type thing, it's more like a can't be bothered-ness. I used to love Valentine's Day, but over the years I've sort of grown out of the whole hearts and flowers thing. I'd much prefer a t-shirt or a gadget. Or, if I'm feeling a bit more romantic, maybe a massage.

What kind of gifts are you giving this year and what kind of gifts do you expect? I'd love to know how other people spend Valentine's Day.

a recent addition to my t-shirt collection

I love a good t-shirt. I also love swearing. I have quite a penchant for the occasional 'bad word' and I wouldn't have it any other way. As the wonderful Billy Connolly said, "A lot of people say that it's a lack of vocabulary that makes you swear. Rubbish. I know thousands of words but I still prefer 'fuck'". Couldn't have said it any better myself.

I was out shopping at the weekend buying Christmas presents and wandered into Pulp in Edinburgh. I love a nosey through there, for clothing that's just a teeny bit different. I went in to have a look through the sales and found this raglan top, with the words 'You're Fucked' written in the inside of a Magic 8-ball. I seen it and instantly took it right to the counter.

The top itself is a very relaxed fit, being a unisex top it's not exactly fitted, but then again, I'm not trying to impress anyone by wearing it so I wasn't too fussed. It's one of those tops that you just throw on with a pair of jeans and a hoody, which is literally my staple outfit. I wore it out to the Christmas Market with my lovely wee mammy which was fine, but she wasn't too happy with me wearing it out to the pub as well. I thought it was pretty funny having people look a bit off when they read it.

I'll probably save it for the next time she's over for a visit again, just to annoy her. It is a nice top though. Would you wear a top like this out or save it for inside?

top picks on etsy

I am an online shopaholic. There I said it, that's the first step to take when solving a problem, admitting it. (I'm not changing though). Ever since I discovered online shopping there has always been one site that is constantly open on my phone and favourited in my browser, and that site is Etsy. I've put together a little wishlist of everything I'm currently lusting after and have sitting my cart waiting to press submit order. I figure that by talking about them here it'll take away the temptation to actually buy them, as I'm trying really hard to save money. I'll press submit eventually though, I always do.
7. Arrow ring.  /  8. Cat mug.  /  9. Legend of Zelda cookie cutter.

Everything here has been sitting in my cart for the last three or four days now. With Christmas coming up, I shouldn't be buying anything for myself, but given how cute everything is, I might need to give in. Also, how cute is that Cloud Mobile? I don't have a baby, but I'd still hang it up!

an evening with molton brown

On Wednesday evening, I popped along to Molton Brown on George Street for an evening of bubbly, pampering and chatting with other bloggers and the lovely ladies that were showing us all the beautiful smelling products. I hadn't been to a blogger event for months, so I was a teeny bit nervous again, but luckily as always, everyone was super nice! I was a bit worried about being a little underdressed, given I was sporting my usual get up of skinny jeans and converse, but, I was put firmly at ease by the lovely ladies that were invited along too!

The evening started at 7pm, I got there around fifteen minutes after it started due to traffic (#busproblems) and was greeted with a lovely glass of bubbly and a quick tour of the new products, including the new line for Christmas. They have scented baubles filled with shower gel and adorable Christmas crackers, filled with cute little products! We were also given a small sample of a delicious smelling white truffle hand cream that smells absolutely divine and also comes with a hand exfoliator too! I resisted buying though, but I can't promise that I won't go back and buy the set on payday.

After a nosy around the rest of the products, we were given a complimentary hand and arm massage with our choice of fragrances for the cream used. I asked for something that smelled fresh and sweet so the lovely lady used a beautifully scented cream of Rhubarb and Rose, which after the massage was finished, I purchased a tube of hand cream with the same scent, it honestly smelled that nice!

The evening was finished off by chatting to the rest of the ladies there before saying our goodbyes and heading home with our thoughtful little goody bag containing two mini shower gels, Pink Pepperpod and Black Peppercorn as well as a card to go back for another hand and arm massage! It was very well put together evening and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I'm not the girliest of girls, but a girly evening such as this every once in a while was well received.

Thank you to the lovely people at Edinburgh Bloggers for organising the evening and to the lovely ladies at Molton Brown for hosting us! I can't wait to come back for another hand and arm massage!

my must haves for manicures

I love painting my nails. What I don't love so much is the actual process of letting them dry and protecting them. In fact, it's enough to put me off painting my nails most of the time. What changed all this was these two little miracles from Bourjois. Instant Dry Nail Drops and 3D Gel Top Coat. I honestly don't know what I did before using these two products. I remember the old days of sitting with my hands at funny angles, blowing on my nails for ages, not being able to go to the bathroom for fear of smudging my manicure on my jeans, and the dreaded bed creases in the polish. No more.

Now I use any type of nail polish, paint a small coat on my fingers letting them dry for around thirty seconds and then drop a tiny bit of of the Dry Drops over the freshly painted nail using the little squeezy nib and let them air dry. I let that dry for around two minutes and then apply a thin layer of the 3D top coat, repeating the first step with the Dry Drops again. Viola, a perfect manicure in less than ten minutes. What a time to be alive, ladies.

If you haven't tried either of these products, especially the Instant Dry Nail Drops, then you definitely should, especially if you are a fan of painting your nails on a regular basis!
