Little Darling* Valentines Giveaway!

 photo lovegiveaway.jpg

Hello! I have some exciting news to share with you all, I have a special little giveaway starting today. In light of the fact that Valentines Day is just around the corner, this giveaway is going to reflect that in the cutest way possible. A few weeks ago a girl, named Love, got in contact with me about her Etsy shop and asked if I'd like to host a giveaway on this blog her behalf. I of course jumped at the chance because her shop is filled with so many lovely little items! You should definitely check it out, she makes limited edition, handmade items of jewellery and clothing that all started from a hobby and blossomed into a beautiful little shop.

So, onto the giveaway; Love is giving away this cute little necklace with a handmade red heart for Valentines Day. It's the bestseller from her shop, too! The giveaway is going to last for one week and is going to be done through Rafflecopter, like last time. The entries are simple, follow Little Darling* on Facebook, follow my blog on Bloglovin and there's an extra option in there to tweet about the giveaway each day for more entries!

Good luck to everyone who enters, I'm gutted I can't enter myself, but I do get paid in a few weeks time so I'll be spending the pennies soon enough. If you have any questions about the giveaway, feel free to leave a comment or pop me an email!

Is squoval even a word?

Please excuse my ridiculously flat hair, but as the title says, I'm leaving the contacts in their container for a while. I'm kind of being forced to do this by the opticians. The main reason for this is that they were really damaging my eyes and causing scarring. I didn't know this until recently, but apparently the type of contacts I'd been using for the last five bloody years were wrong for my eyes and were stopping the oxygen getting to my eyes properly, therefore drying the skin out and causing it to scar. They also failed to tell me that I had astigmatism, which if you don't know, means that the front of my eyeballs aren't round and are more rugby ball shaped and so my contacts didn't even fit my eyes properly. I had been wearing them for five years and didn't even know they were damaging my eyes. So.. yeah, that was some interesting news.

When I went to get my eyes tested a few weeks ago they pretty much slapped me on the wrist for being so careless with my eyes and told me that I was under no circumstances to wear my contacts for at least two months to let my eyes heal before getting contacts that actually fit properly. They also told me that my prescription had changed dramatically and were shocked that my last opticians hadn't caught the change sooner. So when it came to getting glasses, they advised that although it might be a bit difficult to see in the new pair as my eyes had adjusted to the wrong prescription, it would be infinitely better to wear the correct type of lens and just struggle to get used to them for a week or two.

So, after being in the opticians for almost three hours, getting my eyes tested by three different opticians as they wanted to guarantee I was getting the correct lens, I finally got to choose my new glasses. Sort of. They told me that because my prescription was so high that it limits the type of frame I could choose. I was to choose a fairly big frame size, it had to be plastic and a certain width to support my soon to be massive lenses. I pretty much let the assistant pick them for me, as long as they were black and not completely square or round I didn't mind, I think I said I wanted them squoval. Is that a word? Sort of square but oval at the same time? I don't know, but she totally got what I meant.

It's now about a week and half later and I couldn't be happier with them. They got my prescription bang on, I love the frames and love the fact that I don't mind wearing glasses outside any more. (I don't really have a choice there though, but that's beside the point..) The glasses are French Connection and cost £120 for any of you glasses wearers who were interested. I actually didn't mind paying that considering they're something I physically rely on and have sitting slap bang in the middle of my face every day. The one thing that does slightly bother me is putting make up on. I can't see what I'm doing without my glasses on, but I can't put make up on with them obstructing my face. I haven't found a happy medium with them make up wise yet, but I'll get there. Not that I'm wearing much make up these days anyway, my skin is currently suffering from 'I think I'm still a teenager, let's bring out the prepubescent spots!' syndrome and it's causing havoc. Ew.

People keep telling me I suit my glasses, but after looking at the top picture and the gonk-expression-flat-hair-scenario, I'm not so sure. I'll let that one linger before I make any permanent glasses decisions. I'm off now to go for the quickest shower ever as Craig is pestering me to go out into town for a while. I just want a day off to do nothing, let me have that? Shoo, boy!

Hello, remember me? I sort of let the little ol' blog slide a bit didn't I? Oops, looks like I'm not doing too well with my new years resolutions then. Life has sort of been getting in the way recently, not anything dramatic, just life. You know how it goes; work, home, dinner, relax, bed, repeat. Occasionally there will be a pub night thrown in the there or a movie night with the boyfriend, but other than that, my life has changed for the boring! So, as I was lying in bed last night playing Flappy Bird (for those of you who don't know about this game, download it and watch it torment you..) I came to the conclusion that although I did make little resolutions for the new year, I thought I'd made a few mini life goals that I'd like to achieve this year. Nothing too serious, just little changes and rules I'd like to stick to, to hopefully help me get back on track.

01. Build some confidence in my looks and body.
A few nights ago, something was said that sort of hit a nerve with me. It made me realise something that I'd been ignoring for a good few years; I don't have a clue how to act sexy / flirty / cute / anything that fits into that general category. Not that it's a bad thing, I seem to be getting by just fine without any knowledge on it. But, for once, I'd like to be able to walk into a room and notice people looking at me, and know it's because of me and not because I'm clumsily walking by. Or wear a pair of sexy knickers and have the confidence to parade around in them and not hide behind the dressing gown I was wearing to keep warm. Obviously that's a boyfriend related one right there, I don't tend to parade around in my pants in front of just anyone. I'm sure you know what I'm saying, confidence would be great.

02. Appreciate my boyfriend more.
Like I said at the beginning, I've sort of let my life slide into the boring and let my work routine take over. Like all the other things in my life, everything else kind of took a back seat, including things I used to do for Craig. Things like spontaneous massages, going out little walks, making him a nice dinner and not just the 'I'm tired' dinner so here's pizza and chips, little things like that. I do think it's really important to show someone you care about how much you appreciate them sometimes, it's always nice to be reminded that you're loved.

03. Be a lot more active after work.
Now I'm sure it's not just me, but sometimes after a shift at work, I want nothing more than to come home, munch some food and just sit on the couch watching the tv in my jammies. However, that's not very proactive and I usually find that when I do this it results in me feeling guilty about having not used my free time for a better reason. Like blogging for example, or playing games or reading. I need to get out of the slump that when I finish work, I come home and do nothing but the bare minimum. I might get in the habit of using the night before to decide what I'll be doing after work, or I'll make a little plan of what's to get done the next night, whether it's housework or just generally sitting with a book or something.

I think I'm going pinterest some tips on how to make a monthly calender and write myself little notes on it, that way I'm keeping myself more organised and planning what I'll be doing and not just letting days slip past. Anything to get a bit crafty really.

Also, in case you haven't noticed, I've changed my blog name, again. I think I've changed it around three or four times now. However, the name HelloZelda has kind of stuck with me over the years and I figured that I'd change it to that to keep everything the same. I highly doubt I'll be changing it again, as I feel that it's a username I'll probably always have. Might as well use it for my blog too!
