Revlon ColourBurst Balms

Revlon ColourBurst Balms - Lacquer 105 Demure, Lacquer 150 Enticing, Matte 250 Standout - £7.99

When Boots decided to have their massive 3-for-2 sale (please please do that again!) a few weeks ago, I chose to buy these on the basis that I had seen them around a few blogs and thought I'd try a few them. I don't generally buy things out of hype unless I think it'll be really amazing, but I must have been feeling daring that day. I wasn't holding my breath on these being fantastic or anything as I'd tried a few lip products like this before and wasn't blown away, so I thought I'd just inevitably be adding to my collection of lippies, which is scarily getting bigger. H O W E V E R. After playing around with the notion of going out shopping and whether to wear a lipstick or not, I picked up Standout from my make up bag and whacked it on. It was immediate love.

To start with, I am a massive fan of matte lipsticks, choosing them over any other type of finish the majority of the time; So when I applied this matte balm, I was surprised at how matte it was. It's obviously not going to be thee most matte lip product out there because it's so moisturising, but it does come incredibly close. It has a velvety finish and contains shea, mango and coconut which keeps your lips soft and helps with any dry patches. I'm not sure what it's like when your lips are already dry, as mine are actually holding steady with the change in weather, I have Lush lip scrubs to thank for that, so do let me know on that one! I put Standout on to go shopping and it lasted a solid 3-4 hours, which is good for me because I'm generally always munching or drinking something, leaving little red lip marks on everything, including the cat. It even managed to last fairly well through an entire meal including a giant ass burger, chips and a drink (with a straw). I have to say, I am incredibly impressed.

I know I've babbled on about Standout quite a bit, when there are two other colours in this post, but I really do love a matte red. If I'm not wearing that matte balm, I'll choose to wear Demure, which is a very pretty pinky nude lacquer balm that I wear all the time in work or nipping out to the shop if my face needs a little hint of colour. Out of the three that I have I wear those two the most. I've only worn Enticing once, to a wedding, and I wasn't that bothered by it. It's a nice colour and everything, essentially the lacquer version of Standout, but after being so impressed with the matte balms, the lacquers don't seem to do it for me, other than Demure.

I will most likely be getting a few more of these considering Boots are having a 3-for-2 on Revlon products, and chances are I'll be tempted to the counter on my lunch at work. The benefits and downfalls of working in a retail park! Let me know if there are any other colours I should have a look at, I'd quite like to delve into oranges and purples and experiment a little. Maybe. I need to be a bit bolder. Reds are just too nice!
